Vinnie Ding is a professional flutist from China, who started her study of flute at the age of nine; Vinnie gained a BMus (Hons) Flute and MFA in Flute from the China Conservatory, Beijing.
She has six years of flute teaching experience in Dulwich College Beijing as a full-time flute teacher, responsible for both individual and group lessons.
Vinnie Ding has been teaching in Hong Kong since Summer 2017, she has been employed as an Advanced-Grade flute teacher by Hong Kong Flute Academy, and she also teaches in several local schools.
She and her students have enjoyed much success in the challenging ABRSM music examinations. Vinnie has an excellent reputation among her students and their parents due to her patient teaching style.
One of the most exciting and talented guitarists to watch on the music scene in recent years, Francis Wan released his album Opus One to great acclaim in 2012.
Francis first encountered the guitar at the age of 13 and soon began to show great promise in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, racking up five First Prizes in three consecutive years. After graduating from high school, he was accepted by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’s Diploma in Music to major in Guitar Performance under the tutelage of Tina K. Lo, and went on to complete a Bachelor of Music programme with full scholarship. During his study, Francis obtained multiple performance diplomas from ABRSM and Trinity College of London.
Over the years, Francis has given countless solo recitals and has been invited to perform as a soloist by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta Orchestra, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Macao Orchestra. Apart from performing, he is active in popular and film music recording, and had appeared as a guest performer at various pop concerts and TV shows. With more than 15 years’ experience in teaching, Francis also hosts master classes, lectures for different organizations such as Music Office of LCSD and he is currently teaching at some of the most prestigious schools to contribute in promoting guitar music for younger generations.
Carmen Au started learning percussion while in Primary School. She completed her undergraduate study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in Western Percussion under Dr. Lung Heung-Wing (Former Principal of Percussion of Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra) and minoring in Chinese Percussion under Mr. Yim Hok-Man (Principal of Percussion of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra). She received the Exhibition Award earned from the Trinity Music Examination Board for her success in obtaining the highest score among all percussion candidates of grade 7 in the world in the year of 1996. In 2000 she was selected to perform in the Asian Youth Orchestra and was awarded a scholarship from Hong Kong Jockey Club for the tour and the training camp. She has performed extensively in different places including China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
In 2009, she obtained her Master of Arts in music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is currently a doctoral candidate of Education in the University of Bristol, United Kingdom and has completed her dissertation. She is now teaching percussion at the ISF Academy, Harrow International School (Hong Kong), Hong Kong Music Office and other local schools.
Abby Chung is a current music teacher teaching band, orchestra, and general music classes at the Primary School of The ISF Academy.
Abby received her Bachelor’s degree in Music and Master’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from the Blair School of Music in Vanderbilt University in 2020 and 2021. During her pursuit of her music degree in Vanderbilt, she studied piano as her primary instrument extensively with Amy Dorfman. Prior to her tertiary education, Abby studied with Jin-Song Xian, professor at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and a Steinway pianist, and completed her examinations in Grade 8 theory, Dip ABRSM, and LRSM.
As a student in college, Abby was an active member of the Vanderbilt Symphonic Choir and the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony. She also taught private piano studio lessons in the Blair School of Music and taught as a volunteer teacher for low-income families at the W.O. Smith Music School in Nashville. As part of her music education degree, she taught general music at the Harpeth Elementary School as well as class piano and music theory at the Nashville School of the Arts. Aside from instrumental pedagogy and performance, she also focused on studying ear-training techniques and aural skills with Marianne Ploger.
Saturnino Tiamson, Jr., hailed by Time Out Magazine as one of the Top 20 Musicians in Hong Kong in 2008. He became a member of the Angono Wind Ensemble (community band) in 1993. In 1998, he finished a Diploma course in percussion at the University of the Philippines College of Music. As a session musician he has played for performing groups and entertainment companies such as Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group in Manila for award-winning musicals, Hong Kong Metropolitan Pop Orchestra, Gip Percussion Ensemble, Philippine Pops Orchestra and among others. He also performed as a drummer and band leader in HK Disneyland Band (2005-2015) and Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (2001-2005, 2017). Former Principal percussionist of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (2001-2004), Metro Manila Community Orchestra (2000-2002) and Southeast Asian Wind Ensemble in Thailand (2003). And toured in Asia with the Asian Youth Orchestra (2001 and 2004).
In 2016, he won multi-gold medals and was awarded Senior Division Overall Champion in the instrument jazz category in the 20th Annual World Championship of Performing Arts in the USA. In the same year, he won the 2nd prize for the Drum Set Category during the 14th edition of Italy Percussion Competition by Italy Percussive Arts Society. He was also chosen by JCI Philippines as one of The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines for Arts in Music.
Furthermore, his continuing quest for excellence earned him the Specialist Drums Certificate with Berklee Music Online Celebrity Scholarship Award by Cris Williamson from the Berklee College of Music. He was also examined and passed the Grade Percussion Certificate with Distinction in ABRSM.
He conducts percussion and drums workshops in the Philippines and other Asian countries. Additionally, he holds free workshops to the Mindanao Hong Kong Workers Federation Drum & Lyre. Sharing his time and resources to promote music among the young and OFWs earned him the Bagong Bayani (modern-day hero) Award for Culture and the Arts in 2014, ABS-CBN Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Pilipino (Filipino hero) Award for Asia Pacific in 2015, UPAA Distinguished Alumnus Award for Culture and the Arts in 2018 and Presidential Award in 2018 conferred by the President of the Philippines. Tiamson is a drum teacher at Harrow International School, The ISF Academy and Hong Kong International Drummer Festival. He is one of the consultants of Asia Pacific Drummer Competition in Hong Kong since 2017 and became the new endorser of Zildjian under JB Music Philippines in 2018.
Gloria Wo is a pianist and organist. She obtained a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College of Music, London, and a Diploma in Piano Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with Honors, Gloria continued her education at Baylor University in the United States, where she graduated with a Master of Music degree, majored in Performance. She studied the piano, organ and harpsichord and subsequently took up a teaching assistantship role for the Music Department with a scholarship.
Gloria has vast experience in teaching and performing. She is committed to nurturing the next generation of pianists and organists. Besides teaching in schools,
she has taught the organ at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the past. She has performed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall and churches in Hong Kong and the United States. Recently, Gloria has been involved in music theory examining work for ABRSM. She is currently teaching at the ISF Academy and Harrow International School Hong Kong.
